The PATENT BET

  A Patent is a popular bet type that you can use to place your bets on a variety of different sports. Most commonly used for betting on horse racing events, although you can place these bets on many other sports as well, such as Football for example.

A Patent Bet consists of seven bets placed across three different selections.
These are:

• 3 Singles
• 3 Doubles
• 1 Treble

Let’s say that you want to place a Patent Bet on horse racing today.
You need to select three horses that you think are going to win.
Let’s say that all of them are given the odds of 10/1. This means that all of the doubles will have the odds of 100/1, whereas trebles would be 450/1.

If you want to place £1 on each bet, this means that you would stake £7 in total.

Placing this bet is pretty simple. Here’s how you can do it.

• 1. Choose your seven selections.
• 2. Create your selection by selecting the price.
• 3. Enter your stake. Remember, if Each Way, this will be double.
• 4. Select if you want to make an each way patent.
• 5. Boom!

Different bookmakers prefer displaying different odds types.

The fractional odds of 5/1 show you that for every £10 you bet you can get £60, this of course includes your stake. Decimal odds already have the stake included in the winnings, so the odds of 6.00 (which equals 5/1) meaning that you would get a return of £60 for staking £10. 

This means that your profit would be £50.

So, in its simplest form: A TRIXIE is a Patent without the singles!
